Monika Mulder
Monika Mulder is a Dutch designer who grew up in the north of the Netherlands and studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven. During her internship at IKEA’s design department in Sweden, she discovered her fascination for combining functionality and playfulness—a collaboration that would lead to some of IKEA’s most recognizable products.
Mulder focuses on designs that bring grace and beauty to everyday objects, with a creative approach to production techniques and use of materials. Since 2007, she has been working from her studio in a former sugar factory in Gothenburg on projects for IKEA, Pholc, Materia, and others.
For IKEA, she designed the famous PS Guskäkt watering can, known for its graceful, flowing shape, and the Bästis wall hook in the shape of a dog’s rear end – a humorous detail that became popular worldwide.
