David Chipperfield, born in London in 1953, operates offices in London, Berlin, and Milan, with a representation in Shanghai. His notable works include the River and Rowing Museum in Henley-on-Thames, featuring a green oak façade, concrete, and glass. While many of his projects are located outside the UK, particularly in Japan and Germany, he gained recognition for designing the Literaturmuseum der Moderne in Marbach am Neckar and won the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture in 2011 for the Neues Museum in Berlin. Chipperfield, the sole British architect in the final selection for the Tate Modern museum, currently serves as a guest professor at the London College of the Arts and is involved in crafting the James Simon Galerie, an entrance building for the Museumsinsel in Berlin.
