In 1989, Designhotel Il Palazzo opened in Fukuoka, conceived and led by Shigeru Uchida and built by Aldo Rossi. “Vera” is the name of Rossi’s daughter and reflects Uchida’s respect for Rossi. “DEAR VERA” was designed as a table clock with a similar shape, alongside Uchida’s wall clock “DEAR MORRIS” for this hotel. It was initially sold under Uchida’s own brand, Chairs, and was later produced by ALESSI. In reproducing this product, the original version has been meticulously recreated down to the smallest details. The dial design is an ALESSI version, with thin indices that give it a modern look. Thanks to advancements in production technology, the designs Uchida envisioned can now be realized with even greater precision than was possible at the time. Since almost no drawings from that period have been preserved, Lemnos created drawings of the original product and reproduced them.
