Philippe Starck, born in Paris in 1949, is one of the most original and creative designers of our time. He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Grand Prix National de la Création Industrielle and the Award for the Elevation of the Arts from the American Institute of Architects. Starck describes himself as "a Japanese architect, an American art director, a German industrial designer, a French artistic director, an Italian furniture designer."

De Dédé is een ontwerp uit 1996, ontworpen door Philippe Starck. Het verhaal gaat dat Starck zichzelf hier uitbeeldde. De Dédé werd toen gelimiteerd uitgebracht in Gietaluminium en was vrij kostbaar. Een nieuwere uitvoering, tientallen jaren later, werd uitgevoerd in kunststof, in de kleuren Roze, Zwart en Brons Metallic. Alleen deze laatste is wat duurder. De kleur Roze is niet meer leverbaar. Het vermoeden bestaat dan ook de nieuwere uitvoering tot de collector’s items zal gaan behoren. Deze deurstop is niet gemaakt voor buiten (hoge temperaturen).
