Dry is the first cutlery set Alessi produced (1981–1984). It originated from the initial discussions between Achille Castiglioni and Alberto Alessi. The “smiling designer” brought out sketches he had made in the 1950s with his brother Pier Giacomo. Despite its high price and the initial skepticism from marketing (“you can’t enter the market with just one cutlery set”), it became a great success. To this day, it remains one of the few cutlery designs that combine matte and polished finishes with strikingly straight forms.
