He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Grand Prix National de la Création Industrielle and the Award for the Elevation of the Arts from the American Institute of Architects. Starck describes himself as "a Japanese architect, an American art director, a German industrial designer, a French artistic director, an Italian furniture designer."

Het originele ontwerp van deze citruspers stamt uit 1988. Het is een van de meest iconische objecten geworden op het terrein van Design artikelen. Het is bedoeld voor citroenen en niet voor sinaasappels. Het ontwerp is getekend op een servetje, terwijl Starck zich bevond in een visrestaurant. In 2021 is er een bronzen versie gemaakt die deze oorspronkelijke schets weergeeft. Voor diegene, die dit intrigerende ontwerp reeds bezitten, de dopjes onder de drie poten zijn los verkrijgbaar.
