Peter Raacke created his minimalist design on behalf of Herbert Seibel in the late 1950s. The goal was to develop cutlery with a timeless design that could be produced easily and sustainably. After its market introduction in 1959, designer Raacke and manufacturer Seibel had to realize that the design was too progressive; its radical simplicity did not meet the tastes of dealers and customers. In 1973, just fourteen years later, the Mono A won its first major design award, the Bundespreis für gute Form. Today it is considered an absolute design classic and has won dozens of awards.
Mono A is made of 18/10 stainless steel. The blade is made of a hardened blade steel that ensures a long cutting life. All parts are suitable for cleaning in the dishwasher. All parts have a silk matt brushed finish.
