Philippe Starck was invited by Alan J. Heller to design a toiletbrush in 1993 and this was launched in 1995. Starck was fascinated by the american obsession of cleanliness and always wanted to design such an object for the bathroom. After its success in the late nineties it disappeared from the market and lots of people kept searching for spare brushes. The name of the toiletbrush refers to the fact that the grip is protected like a sable. Remembering the knights of King Arthur. En Garde! (on your guard).

Philippe Starck, born in Paris in 1949, is one of the most original and creative designers of our time. He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Grand Prix National de la Création Industrielle and the Award for the Elevation of the Arts from the American Institute of Architects. Starck describes himself as "a Japanese architect, an American art director, a German industrial designer, a French artistic director, an Italian furniture designer."
